Alcatel has established itself as a trustworthy partner in supplying businesses with business telephone system. With an urge to excel and make it better than the best, the company has improved on its own designs and systems. The Alcatel-Lucent Omni PCX Office Telephone Systems is a feather in Alcatel’s cap.

The system is stylish, handy and executive in its efficiency. You can access the internet, email and make voice calls with the system. What’s more, it is easy to use and can be used efficiently by just about any novice. This phone system allows your office phones to be the most effective and time-saving, to say the least. Your business can excel with this technology.

The Alcatel Omni PABX Systems offers you free services such as a voice mail which can be delivered and heard to any time, just like a voice call recorder and it also has auto attendant facility. The additional features allow you free messages and a virtual receptionist, also free of charge, which lets you know all the messages and calls you have received when you were not able to receive them. It also automatically puts on the music when callers are placed on hold.

The phone system models 4029 and 4039 have very clear speaker phones allowing collective communication. There are regular features such as one button speed dials and redials and you can also transfer the call quite easily. The phones come with alpha numeric keys, icons and soft keys which are universally understood. Cordless DECT handsets and Bluetooth headsets allow you to move around while talking. The cordless systems are especially useful in conferences and presentations.

Among the three models, 4019, 4029 and 4039, one is likely to find the second model the most. Though the 4029 has only six soft keys as compared to the 4039’s ten keys, this is more popular as this has advanced on the basic model and is not as complicated as the high-end one.

The 4029 has a 6-line dynamic LCD screen and a four-way navigation key. The screen is quite large compared to other phones and messages are legible. The navigation key, as in a mobile phone, helps for all important functions and is the key to enter the wider functions of the phone.

The light indicators for different functions are yellow for mute, orange when the speaker is on and blinking red when you have a new voicemail.

The 4029 has got a QWERTY keypad, useful for people who are well-versed in computers. The phone can be used more efficiently with this handy keypad, with specific speed dialling options and also easy storage of data. To use speed dial, you need to just start with the first two alphabets of the person and the directory comes up as in a mobile set. As we are all used to the use of mobile phones now, the use of Alcatel PABX system phones are easy.

The phone book incorporated has a capacity of 3000 numbers. An additional advantage is the Computer Telephony Interface also known as CTI which allows numbers from address book of your computer to be dialled.

When in business, you know that you will make mistakes along the way, it is all part and parcel of learning and growing your business. We all make mistakes and we all learn from them. But, if you could take just a few moments to read up on common mistakes that others have made, that might save you from make the same costly errors, isn’t it worthwhile taking the time so you can avoid some very costly errors which are simple to avoid?

Take a look at these 5 small errors that business owners make in purchasing business telephone system;

Avoid getting tied up to a business telephone contract. If you do think it is a good deal, make sure it is flexible enough to grow with your business;

If you are signing a finance agreement for a PABX System make sure you know who it is with, and research the type of system you are purchasing, don’t over pay and avoid the scams – there is no such thing as a free plasma TV – you will be paying for it somewhere;

Make sure you understand the flag fall charges associated with your plan, some service providers are charging a ridiculously high 42 cents flag fall for all National calls and Calls to Mobiles;

Make sure the rates are competitive, and just as importantly that they are billed in per second increments – what’s the difference between per second billing and 30 second increments? 30 second increments equals about 10% more on your bills tolling;

Make sure that the lines you are connecting will serve your business. Ensure that you are not paying for lines you don’t use, or more importantly not enough lines so your customers get the engaged tone.

For more interesting facts an tips about your Office Phone or purchasing Office Telephone Systems visit OHMI and sign up to our Understand Your Phone Bill newsletter.

Would you like to cut your office calls to mobile phones by as much as 65%? Would you like to be able to call your staff in the field free of charge? Would you like to be able to send text messages from your office to your staff or customers at substantially less than what some of the SMS marketing systems charge?

Then you need to consider a GSM gateway for your business telephone system.

To put it in simple terms, a GSM Gateway is a device that can be attached to your PABX systems. The purpose of this device is simple; it allows the user to make calls using a mobile network. This is a great feature because it allows you to purchase certain plans that mean you can cut costs on your monthly bills. If you own a land line then you will be aware that making calls to a mobile phone is generally a lot more expensive. This is unfortunate because many businesses will find that they have to make calls to mobile numbers every single day. It is also common knowledge that mobile phone call plans work out to be a lot cheaper overall.

There are a few things that you are going to need if you want to use a GSM Gateway. Firstly, you are going to need to have small PABX systems that you can program, and it will need to have a free analogue port. As well as this, you are going to need to have an active SIM card that is linked to the network that you actually want to use. Once you have done this you will be able to program your office telephone systems so that you can decide which lines will be directed through the GSM Gateway.

In that majority of cases, using a GSM Gateway will prove to be a lot cheaper than using VoIP. The only exception to this is if you need to make a lot of international telephone calls on a daily basis. The main benefit that comes with using a GSM Gateway is that it is incredibly easy to use. As soon as a GSM Gateway has been installed and set up then there is nothing else that you will need to do, and no further charges that you are going to have to face.

At OHMI we have various GSM Gateway models with considerable features and benefits to your business. To find out how we can substantially subsidise the cost of your GSM Gateway whilst saving you significant money on your calls costs contact us today at business@ohmi.com.au or call on 1300 046 464

Every business these days is in constant competition. In order to ensure that your business is top of the game, you need to find out what the absolute best services are that you can access. The most important thing by far is ensuring that you find the best communication services out there. This will make sure that the efficiency of your business is the best that it can be.

As a motel owner, you will be well aware that there is a lot of different equipment that you are going to need in order to be successful. This is why it is important that you take the time to carefully select office telephone systems that you are going to purchase. There are many well known brands that currently offer some great PABX systems, including Alcatel, Samsung, and LG. They also provide business telephone system that are specifically for use in hotels, nursing homes, hospitals, and many other places.

Trying to figure out how much your PABX phone system is going to cost you is actually a fairly simple process. The only part that people often struggle with is actually deciding which of the different features on offer that they are actually going to need. It is very important that you carefully research all of the different features that are on offer to you so that you can get an accurate estimation of how much it is going to cost you. It would be a good idea to go online and take a look at some reviews of different features for a PABX Systems, and also to get a quotation.

There are some important things that you are going to need to keep in mind when trying to get a quote online. For example, you are going to need to consider how many lines you have, or need, if they are ISDN, MultiLine or PSTN, and also the amount of handsets and headsets that you are going to need for your business. There are so many questions that you are going to need to ask in order to get an accurate quotation. If you are expanding your business then you may require more handsets in the future, so you may wish to consider this too.

If you find it difficult to answer all calls then you could consider getting an auto attendant feature. This is a very popular feature among businesses. You could also think about whether music or messages on hold would be beneficial to your business. As well as this, you will need to think about whether you need wireless or chorded handsets.

The great thing about PABX Systems suppliers is that they offer many different models that also have many different features. This will help with the daily running of a hotel, without having to worry about using a computer. With a simple instruction from the handset at the front desk, you can perform many different functions. Also, if the hotel or motel is larger, then the office telephone systems can even be linked to a computer.

If you are just starting out with your hotel business then you are going to want to make sure that you carefully organise your phone lines. If the hotel/motel is of a medium size then it would be a good idea to use ISDN or MultiLine phone services as this offers you the benefit of multiple lines and a larger inbound number range.

If you would like to discuss the right system for your business, feel free to get in touch with us at business@ohmi.com.au or give us a call on 1300 046 464, at OHMI we are happy to help you make the right decision on the PABX systems you need, and set you up with the right office phone lines to ensure your business runs smoothly. Remeber at PABXSystems.net.au we are here to help educate you on what you need, we do not actually sell PABX systems, but we do have access to a network of independent installers and can arrange independent qoutes on your behalf.

Are you considering changing your business phones? Had an incredible offer from a VoIP provider that is making you think twice about your current office phone plan? In this day and age with technology constantly progressing there is always new things for businesses to try. VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol has been around for several years now, with companies both large and small all over the world taking advantage of the convenience of VoIP technology. To put it simply, VoIP provides a method of communicating without the use of a phone, but over the internet, using your voice converted into data at one end and unconverted at the other.

There are several benefits to using VoIP, but there are also many drawbacks, too. For a start, VoIP is not always reliable. Connections can sometimes be compromised by many things out of our control, things like; poor broadband internet speeds; power outages; internet outages; and the tyranny of distance. The sound can often be muffled, have crackles, delays or echoes, making communication virtually impossible. VoIP is great for conference calls and large meetings, but as mentioned above, it is not the most reliable of business telephone system.

On the scale of telecommunications call quality a standard VoIP connection can rate very low, some describe it as a very poor mobile phone call.

A much better alternative in terms of office phones and business phones is a landline. There are many reasons why the benefits of a landline far outweigh the benefits of a VoIP phone system. Firstly, it is a lot more reliable. The line is less likely to be compromised by factors such as the weather, power outages, and does not rely on another service to operate. Granted, it may be more expensive than VoIP, but you are paying for a more reliable service.

There is now a larger range of products within your typical landline services;

PSTN – Also known as POTS – Plain Old Telephone System

ISDN – A digital trunk line with 10 channels per line and available in 10/20/30 line groups.

Multiline – Also a digital line with a minimum of 10 lines and up to 30 lines.

Whilst a typical phone service may seem a higher cost to VoIP at first glance, if you a phone deal specialist that provides you with competitive business phone deals, plus you will have a lot better call quality. Your business phone service will also come with excellent service level agreements to ensure minimum uptime and repair time should something go wrong.

You also need to consider that a standard internet connection may not be sufficient quality to give a satisfactory VoIP connection for an important business line. This may mean having to pay more for a business grade broadband solution. You may also need to make costly infrastructure and equipment changes to ensure compatibility with your new office telephone systems.

Another reason why landlines are better is because not everyone is technologically minded. Some people struggle with modern technology, meaning that not everyone is going to find it easy to make use of VoIP in business. However, everyone knows how to use a landline phone. This means that you not only have reliable PABX systems in place, but you also have the staff who know how to use them. There are also many more deals when it comes to landline phones, especially for offices and businesses; the very cheap VoIP rates in the market are usually a poorer quality product, with poor or no service level agreements to back up the quality of their systems.

If you want to find out more about the benefits of a quality telecommunications service at a competitive price get in touch at business@ohmi.com.au or call us on 1300 046 464.

Purchasing PABX systems can be a difficult process to figure out. The reason for this is that there are many different options available to business owners that are not being taken advantage of, simply because business owners are not aware of the options that are available to them. The first thing to point out, is that getting locked into a long term contract with your telephone service provider for your business telephone system is a bad idea, although this is the option that most business owners go for because they are not aware of the alternatives, and it seems a simple and cheap way to get started – problem is it costs you more.

There are a few reasons why getting locked into a contract can be a bad idea. Firstly, the cost of telephone calls do eventually drop, they are not likely to go up over time, so there is no need to stay in a long term contract. As well as this, once you are in a contract you will find that changing providers is virtually impossible, meaning that you, as the business owner, will be required to pay out the phone system. This can prove to be incredible costly, so it is definitely best to avoid this if possible.

Another important thing to remember is not to sign up to a phone company’s hire purchase agreement. This should be avoided at all costs. If you cannot afford to buy the office telephone systems outright, then it would work out better to get a business loan, or even a personal loan as an alternative. Buying outright usually proves to be a lot more cost effective than getting into a long term contract, so it is definitely something that you should keep in mind. You will also be able to take advantage of lower priced office phone plans and may be able to negotiate better rates with your provider.

If you are finding it difficult to afford all of the office phones that you require for your business, then there are some alternatives that you can look into. You may like to consider buying a PABX systems second hand. Obviously, you are going to have to make sure that you only purchase these from a reputable business as you do not want to get ripped off, but there are many phone system installers out there that specialize in this kind of thing, so as long as you do your research then you will be fine.

Hopefully, this article has given you a good insight into what you need to look for, and what to avoid when it comes to purchasing a small business telephone system. As you can see, there are any different options available to you, and you most certainly do not have to get locked into a long term contract.

For businesses it is important to make sure that the best PABX systems features are installed. There are a variety of features available for your business telephone system, and some are more effective than others. Let’s take a look at the top seven office telephone systems features.

Voicemail. Every office phone needs to have some sort of voicemail feature in place, and there are many reasons for this. Obviously, if a customer calls and there is nobody available to answer the phone then there has got to be a way for them to be able to leave a message. If there is no voicemail feature then a company is going to lose business. A voicemail system provides a way of allowing customers to leave a message if nobody is available to take their call.

Music or messages on hold feature. When a large volume of customers are calling at the same time it can be difficult for staff to handle and answer all calls. With music or messages on hold feature a piece of music is played or a message is repeated to the customer until their call can be answered by a member of staff.

Greeting Message. A greeting message provides a great way of a business introducing themselves before the caller actually gets through. The set greeting message is played before the phone starts to ring. This is helpful for many different reasons. For s a start, it reassures the caller that they have dialled the correct number. A second benefit is that it gives the business a chance to say anything that they want to say to their customers.

Auto Attendants. Auto attendants are great for large businesses, they provide a method of communicating with customers without staff having to man the phones themselves. This is a good method of answering general customer queries as a Frequently Asked Questions message could be used as part of the auto attendant feature.

Call Transfer. If there are many departments to a business, then a call transfer feature is essential. In order to put a customer through to the right department, a member of staff will have to use the call transfer feature. This will then put them through to another member of staff in the correct department who can then deal with their query. This saves a lot of time and money for both the customer and the business.

Line Hunt. Every PABX systems need Line Hunt, it is a great feature for large businesses who experience large volumes of calls is a line hunt feature. When a customer calls and the lines are busy then they will usually be put on hold. With line hunt the system will find or ‘hunt’ for the next line that is free, meaning that the customer can get through a lot quicker.

Conference Calls. Conference calls are important for large businesses, particularly for those who have international departments. With conference calls several members of staff can have a meeting at the same time, saving time and also letting everyone know what is going on at the same time.

If you are relocating your business then you should be aware that business phone companies are going to need time to be able to deal with the relocation of your office phone lines, so it is important to make sure that you give them enough advance notice before you actually relocate. If you have a PTSN phone line then the whole process is a lot more straight forward, whereas an ISDN phone line can take as long as up to eight weeks. You should also be aware that if your relocation date changes then you will be moved back to the bottom of the waiting list, meaning that it will take even longer. Here is the different relocation times that you will need to know:

PSTN 5 – 7 working days
ISDN 2 10 – 20 working days
ISDN 10/20/30 20 – 60 working days
Office Multiline 20 – 60 working days
ADSL Internet 3 – 7 working days after the PSTN line is functional and the number provided.

In most cases, it will usually be PSTN phone lines that are set up first. The best thing that you can do is to make sure that you tell the phone company all of the details that they are going to need, such as what needs to be relocated and what doesn’t. Some of the things that you are going to need to discuss with the phone company include:

• Can you transfer your phone number?
• Can you transfer your fax number?
• Will you need a number redirection?
• Do you need a line for an alarm?
• Do you need a line for ADSL?
• What is the benefit of obtaining a 1300/1800 number prior to relocating?
• Will you need new equipment such as a new phone system or cabling?

It is also important that you make sure that you give your phone company the exact details of your new address. This is important because if you give the phone company the wrong details then the order will be put back again, meaning that you will have to wait even longer for everything to be set up. In some cases you will be able to keep your phone number, but if you cannot then it would be wise to set up alternative numbers whilst the relocation is in process. Considering a 1300 or 1800 number is the best way to go in most cases.

The next thing that needs to be carried out is to make sure that everything in your new location is in place. This means checking that all of the cables are in the correct places in order for the phone lines to work correctly. You are then going to need to make sure that you have given the phone company details of anything else that is needed. You are going to need to have cables in place for each workspace. You should plan all of these different things before you actually relocate to make sure that the process goes as smoothly as possible.

It is important that you plan the relocating process carefully. For example, you are going to need to make sure that you can fit it around your work load in order to make sure that the phone relocation is as simple as possible. As mentioned above, in some cases you will be able to keep your business telephone number, but if you have to have a diversion number then you will have to pay the charges that come with the service.

Another thing that you need to keep in mind is that before your PABX Systems can be taken from your previous location, your technician is going to have to set up diversions to your new business numbers. This is important because if it is not done in enough time then an emergency diversion has to be set up which will cost you a lot more money.

A final point to remember is that the process of relocating your PABX Systems is the responsibility of your Office Telephone Systems maintainer and not the phone company. The process should be planned thoroughly and carefully. The time that it will take to relocate varies, depending on the size of the actual Business Telephone Systems. Your new phone lines need to be active before you relocate your PABX Systems. This is also a significant point in time to decide if your current PABX Systems will continue to suit your business requirements into the future. It may be the opportune time, whilst relocating to install a new PABX Systems at your new premises prior to relocating. This way you are also able to spend some time setting up your new office phone lines and PABX Systems to make sure it is all operational before your relocation, and you never know but we may be able to assist you in the sale of your old system through one of our installers.

It is important to obtain a number of quotes for a office telephone systems before making a final decision. At PABX Systems, we do the leg work for you.

PABXSystems.net.au, an OHMI website has a network of independent PABX Systems Installers, ready to give you a quote on what you need to suit your current and future use. At OHMI we provide you with a all your telecommunications service, we organise the connections for you, whilst providing you with quality and competitively priced phone charges.

Here are some tips for saving on your new PABX systems.

Phone System Tip Number 1 – Avoid Long-term Contracts

The larger companies in the market place will convince you that it is best to get your PABX systems, maintenance package and phone services all on the one bill over 3, 5 or even 10 years. They usually lock you in to high call rates, and you end up paying significantly more for your phone system also. Read More…

Phone System Tip Number 2 – How to buy your phone system

Many businesses make the mistake of getting their phone system from an installer and using the installer Hire Purchase agreement. With high interest rates, long terms, and usually very high break out costs for early payouts, most businesses are better off purchasing a system outright, or if you cannot afford this, getting a loan from a reputable financial institution that will allow you to payout the loan sooner from the call savings you will be making with OHMI. Read More…

Phone System Tip Number 3 – GSM Gateways

What is that you ask? Ever notice how the big telco’s charge your calls to mobiles with a large flagfall, in 30 second increments and at high rates? Well a GSM Gateway can reduce the cost of your calls to mobiles by as much as 60%. Read More…

Phone System Tip Number 4 – Compare Bills

Before signing up to just any phone company because they say they have great rates, have them compare their service against your current service – OHMI will do this for you FREE OF CHARGE, showing you exactly what your current usage would have been with OHMI, so you know exactly what savings to expect the moment you switch. We will also give you specific recommendations about how to change your usage to save you even more. Read More…

Phone System Tip Number 5 – Know what you need

Before committing to just any office telephone systems, make sure it is one that will cater for your needs now, and into the future. There is nothing more costly in purchasing a phone system, then having to replace it because it does not cater for your needs. Most phone systems offer excellent range of features, and are adaptable to growth. Make sure yours is an asset and not a liability

Business Phone Tip Number 6 - Keep it Simple

Phones come equipped with cameras, keypads, special rings, accessories and so on. Keep the price of your phone simple by declining unneeded accessories. Additionally, phone system providers can allow you to block access to extras like automatic redial and three-way calling that can drive up costs.

Business Phone Tip Number 7 – Choose Wisely

Many PABX systems exist. This means there are plenty of service providers vying for business. Let PABXSystems.net.au do the hard work in getting you quotations on a number of PABX Systems. We will usually obtain quotes from three to five installers on your behalf. Our network of installers offers different makes and models of systems, and may even be able to save you significant money with a quality second hand system. See what they have to offer and how they fare against each other. Then let us set it all up for you with a quality, competitive phone service backed up by our excellent customer service.
